It was another great night of speedway racing at the Fast Friday’s Motorcycle Speedway in Auburn. Fast Friday’s finished up their Friday night events with a bang and will move to Saturday nights beginning next Saturday August 17. Fast Fridays will also move into their championship portion of the season presenting championship racing events beginning with the Fast Fridays Track Championship and Peewee Championship also on August 17. It is the most exciting part of the season as the racers get really serious and championship racing begins.

This week was the last chance to accumulate points for the Fast Friday’s track championship for Division I and Support Class Riders. It was also the last and championship round of the season long Team Challenge.

The team challenge is team racing at its best as rider’s race and score points as teammates instead of individuals. The riders score points for their team with finishing order in heat races, three points for a win, two points for a second-place finish, one points for third place and zero for a fourth-place finish. The points are scored round after round and end with the championship round, six rounds total. Coming into the championship round The Law Tigers held a secure lead over Team IFC Financial 44-32 and for sure sitting in the driver’s seat with the IFC team facing an uphill battle if they were to pull off an upset win.

Broc Nicol and Greg Moore had great first place rides and scored three points each for IFC, Bart Bast kicked in two points for a second-place finish and Tisiah Prout added one with a third-place finish, but IFC’s nine points were not enough to bump off the Law Tigers who also scored nine points for the evening.

For the Law Tigers Slater Lightcap picked up a win and three points, John Peters and Russell Green added two points each with second place finishes and Charlie Trana and Timmy Dion added one each for third place finishes for the Law Tigers. Each team scored nine in the final round and the score ended with the Law Tigers taking the championship 53 points to IFC Financial 41 points. It was a fantastic series and the teams both did great jobs. Billy Janniro and Trana led the Law Tigers scoring nine points each for the series and Broc Nicol scored nine points also throughout the series for Team IFC Financial.

The young guns of speedway at Fast Fridays worked their way into the scratch main event in one of the youngest line-ups for the scratch main event in memory. Blake Borello being the oldest racer at 23-years-old faced Slater Lightcap who is almost 19 years old, Timmy Dion at 20 years old and Charlie Trana who is 18 years old, definitely the youngest main event line-up in years. Dion got a great gate and led going into turn one and holding a comfortable lead. Borello was right behind him in second but Dion just pulled ahead further of him even more and Borello found himself in a battle for second place with Trana. In the third lap Borello and Lightcap got tangled in a serious crash that left both riders on the ground and referee Steve Lucero called the race. Dion was first, Trana was second, Lightcap was awarded third and Borello fourth. The win was the first scratch main event win of the season and of his career for Dion.

Dion has been racing since he was nine years old beginning in the peewee division. He followed his father Tim Dion and his uncle Nick Dion who both raced in the adult divisions. Dion worked his way through the youth divisions, then division three and two until he began racing in division one. His win Friday night was the first time he won a division one scratch main event. Paying his dues has finally been worth the time and effort this young man has put into his racing career.

Russell Green got into the winner’s circle again with an impressive win in the handicap main event. The win in the handicap program’s finale was Green’s second of the season, and his first since his first handicap main event win in the week two. Green, handicapped on the 20-yard-line was second in his first heat race, first in his semi-final and then took the main event. Blake Borello was second for the entire race following Green but not able to make a move to pass. Borello took second and Slater Lightcap was third.

Tisiah Prout again won the Support Class main event his fifth main event win of the season and his second in a row. Prout is very impressive considering this is his first season on a speedway bike. John Peters was second and Antonio Coffman was third.

Riley Rearick kept his main event win streak alive with another win in the Youth 150 main event. The win is Rearick’s 14^th main event win of the season. Zander Schroeder was second and Gavin Evans Seeley was third.

Darren Armbruster and Brady Landon put on a great show with some exciting racing in the Youth 250 division. Armbruster won heat one, Landon won heats two and three then Armbruster came through with a win in the main event his eighth for the season so far. Landon was second and Jameson Hutchinson was third in the main event. Look for these two young riders to go head-to-head in the upcoming AMA Youth 250 national championship on August 31.

Just another reminder that Fast Friday’s Motorcycle Speedway will move to Saturday events for the rest of the season. Same start time just on Saturday nights instead of Friday nights. Schedule dates and other information came be found at www.fastfridays.com.
